Flowers and Ikebana

My Birthday Ikebana

Last Monday some of my friends visited me at home to celebrate my birthday. I prepared some of my favorite foods like lasagna and Mango Coconut cake which we shared over lunch.

Here in Japan it is usual to give flowers as birthday gifts. I received a rose and a small bouquet of assorted flowers from them. To show my appreciation, I made an Ikebana using these flowers. I also used the small glass vase which I also got as a gift.

Roses, blue Gentian, and white Carnations for my Birthday

The following day as a gift for myself,  I made a birthday Ikebana using the vase and clay flowers which I made a few weeks ago. Through this arrangement, I want to share my passion in making pretty and useful things out of recycled and cheap materials.

For this arrangement, I tried to mix fresh materials with handmade flowers and recycled vase. The vase is made of empty juice box which I covered with polymer clay spray painted in silver with red paper ribbon. The roses and yellow flowers were also made of the same clay. I added some dried Caspia and white Daylilies to complete the arrangement.
